We have been hard at work working on new capabilities for our enterprise customers. Here is a taste of things coming:

1. Partner API

This new API allows partners to provision new accounts via our API. Perhaps your new shiny mobile app would like to let users sign up directly from their phone or tablet? With this API you can do that.

2. Social Hub

The enterprise has been looking for a way to take advantage of social collaboration in a way that isn't a liability to the enterprise and without causing lots of extra administrative work to publish/update/report on collaborative tasks.

Our social hub offering will be a game changer for the enterprise. Powered by CloudPointe Connect, hubs can be created on the fly for your projects, and then you "share" your CloudPointe workspaces with the hub and any users you invite. Hubs are persistent, not just for meetings, so you can use them for Board of Directors, as customer portals, for business and financial transactions, and many other use cases as well.

Of course you get all the benefits of CloudPointe Connect, so that means all your documents are single-source managed, even if they are shared in multiple hubs! Never manually merge changes from multiple sources again!

3. FusionForms - web forms for transactional collaboration

This new cloud hosted service is meant to help enterprise developers create transactional forms, although it can be used for any web form. Create surveys, customer service requests, post-sale requests, and much more. You can integrate FusionForms into your [B]ig [D]ata strategy since all responses can have attached JSON data to import into your existing data infrastructure.

4. All new multi-tiered cloud infrastructure

We have been hard at work to deploy multiple segments of our architecture, particularly the pieces that transform documents (i.e. .doc to pdf, photoshop -> PNG, video conversions, etc.). These now run on their own cluster so that it scales independently of other CloudPointe services.

Updated 'change my password' system

We just rolled out some updates that will help with a bit of confusion for some users.

The way it WAS, if you invited somebody to your share and they didn't have an account yet, after they choose a password, it may have been confusing to users as to where they go to log in and see your files.

The new update now will direct people to the invitation email they received, but also shows a list of the shared folders they have access to, thus eliminating any of the confusion.

New Embed Code for CloudPointe

We just launched an update today to use our new CloudPointe embed code version 2.0.

This update now allows you to configure a web page on your website or web application that can be used for embedded shared folders or for manually created document links. Now you can generate one-off links to individual documents and send them via email.

More info is coming soon about the new IP security features we've added to make it even more secure to share documents and digital assets outside of your enterprise. Now you can prevent documents from being opened by anybody but the intended recipient.

New security and UI tweaks

We've been busy making things run smooth at CloudPointe! We've added some new capability to the "send link" tools so that now you can apply IP address security for document sharing.

Here's how it works: First, Joe sends his proposal to Sally and enables IP security. When Sally opens the document, her IP address is logged at CloudPointe. Now if Sally sends that link and password to somebody else, like a competitor of Joe's or anybody else, it will know and block access. Tight security for when you need it.

A new "Share Links" interface lets you selectively remove links you have created for people after they expire.

We also just released our production version of our WebDAV connector, which means there is now connectivity to any storage system that supports WebDAV. CloudPointe even supports WebDAV locking so remote users won't break your internal workflow.

Happy Valentine's Day! New Features!

We're pleased to launch a bunch of new features today, all of which we will dig into in detail in subsequent blog posts. Here's an overview:

Document and folder filters -- These filters let you allow/deny folders and file types. This makes it much easier to share individual folders and files, especially from Google Docs
Send a document link -- Now you can generate a secure read-only link to share a specific file. Assign an expiration date if you like, or a individual password just for that link
Mobile web app -- Now you can access your documents from your internet-enabled smart phones! When invitation emails are sent out, a link is included to view the mobile app. Check it out at https://www.cloudxy.com/mobile

There are more as well! We have a bunch of new stuff in the works to help you be the more efficient while collaborating in the cloud!

New Features Launched

We're pleased to announce that we just launched a new "Notifications" system for CloudPointe! When you set up your shared folders (aka "workspaces"), there is a new tab called "Notifications." Check the box to enable notifications for each shared folder, select whether you want all users, or a specific email address to receive notifications, and then select which actions are included.

Bug fix for live-editing of documents

We were made aware of a bug that caused some people to get a "security error" popup when trying to live-edit a document. We have posted an updated to correct this issue. Let us know if you continue to experience any issues.

Performance and Security Updates

We are continuing to work around the clock to bring you more value, more power and more performance out of our collaboration services. We've got some exciting new developments coming which you will hear about here, all the social venues (facebook/twitter), as well as via the newswire. All really REALLY good stuff.

This Thanksgiving holiday, we just rolled out our new SSL services, so that your account login and embedded shares all run over SSL for added security. We've also updated our infrastructure, so you should notice a significant increase in overall system performance and bandwidth speeds.

Business Service Tier Available; Free Google Docs Connector

Philadelphia, PA - November 15, 2010: Today, CloudPointe LLC announced the release of its Business Service, which is now available for signup online. The CloudPointe Business service, which until now was only available to beta testers, is a new tier of service that adds Amazon S3 and Secure FTP storage connectors to its Basic subscription service. In addition, CloudPointe also announced that its Google Docs connector is now available at no cost for all service levels, including the free, Basic service.

The CloudPointe service provides tools to embed document sharing and collaboration inside any website or web application, including developer integration using the underlying API. CloudPointe offers a storage compatibility layer, allowing for remote access and collaboration with documents and files directly from business' existing storage systems, whether on FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3, Google Docs or Microsoft SharePoint. The CloudPointe SAAS is an extension of the company's enterprise document management platform.

"Cloud and secure internet storage, such as Amazon S3 and Secure FTP (SFTP) are often considered 'developer-only' technologies due to their technical nature," said CloudPointe CEO, Andrew Schwabe. "CloudPointe's tools add a user-friendly interface to these platforms, making them much more accessible directly to business managers for collaborative use. The embeddable collaboration tools and API access offer rapid productivity benefits for developers and integrators."

In a recent article on Ulitzer's Cloud Computing site, Tim Negris, a veteran software industry executive and consultant, said "Existing public cloud services for multi-party document sharing all make the same mistake: They address a middleware problem with an application solution." He adds that CloudPointe "[provides] functions for document and file sharing, access, and versioning, independently of where the documents are stored and which programs are used to view or manipulate them." New User Manager, Dashboard

In response to the wonderful feedback we have received from our users, we have made a few modifications to CloudPointe.

The new user manager allows you to add and manager users' access to your shared folders. It is easy now to add a new email address and multi-select shared folders for which the user should be granted access.

We've also been working on the Dashboard, so you can get a much better view of your account activity and quickly link to your starred documents.

Mac Bugs Killed

We found some fun bugs for Mac OSX users. "Fun" is sarcastic of course... Anyway, we updated several things in the system. If you downloaded the FusionDox Desktop application for live editing files, uninstall the version you have (Mac users drag it to your recycle bin, Windows users can remove it from your control panel), and then when you try to edit a file, it will prompt you to re-install the software, which will have all our new updates.
